Leeds Rhinos' Rohan Smith provides Harry Newman and Aidan Sezer injury update after Leigh loss

Rohan Smith has confirmed Harry Newman suffered an injury scare - but is not as serious as initially appeared. However, the Rhinos are feeling the costs of their defeat to Leigh Leopards after Aidan Sezer picked up a quad injury.

The halfback was withdrawn at half-time after suffering an injury during the first half of the 20-6 defeat to the Leopards. Seemingly struggling in the first half, the Australian would not return and Smith admitted there was concern regarding his fitness.

"At the backend of the first half he was struggling to get around with a quad issue," Smith confirmed. "He couldn't remember a moment but he couldn't get into a proper stride. They've assessed him, they're not sure what it is but he isn't right."

Thankfully, Newman's incident appears to be nothing more than a scare, with the young centre spooked after an incident in the final tackle of the game. Newman, who has had rotten luck with injuries, appeared panicked and in distress but eventually got to his feet and walked on his own, albeit with a limp.

"He's OK, he just got a scare there as per those tackles that are happening at the moment. Ankle, it was ankle he was scared about."

The new episode of House of League is out now! Matthew Shaw is joined by Paul Cooke and Joe Appleyard to discuss the season so far and grade every club's campaign.
