Leeds Rhinos ratings as Jack Broadbent and Zane Tetevano impress in Castleford Tigers defeat

Jack Broadbent: Drafted in at full-back following Richie Myler’s withdrawal and produced a lively performance, laying on Luke Briscoe’s try with a nice pass. 7

Tom Briscoe: A quiet afternoon on the right wing for Briscoe who did not see much of the ball. 6

Corey Hall: A first Super League start for the youngster and he had a difficult afternoon, with Oliver Holmes outfoxing him for Castleford’s first try. 5

Alex Sutcliffe: Two big hits on Nathan Massey and Niall Evalds caught the eye – with the second shutting down a certain Tigers try – but needed to provide a better pass to Luke Briscoe after Leeds had created an overlap at a crucial moment. 6

Luke Briscoe: A good finish for Leeds’ first try but may have been guilty of overrunning the ball when he and Sutcliffe bombed a try. 6

Liam Sutcliffe: Looked more dangerous as the game went on but struggled to make a telling impact. 6

Luke Gale: The Rhinos needed Gale at his best with so many key men out but the former Castleford man had an off day, with his kicking game particularly poor. 5

Mikolaj Oledzki: A strong first stint from the big prop in a tough battle against a strong Tigers pack. 6

Kruise Leeming: Came to life in his second stint and backed himself to put Matt Prior over on the last with Gale waiting for the ball on the right edge. 6

Matt Prior: The Australian went over for his first Super League try in a strong performance but he would no doubt trade that for the win. 6

Alex Mellor: Some strong running on the left edge but could find no way through solid defence. 6

Rhyse Martin: An ineffective performance from the second-rower on a right edge that struggled. 5

Zane Tetevano: The big forward produced some bone-rattling hits as he showed what he is all about, although he blotted his copybook with a costly missed tackle in the build-up to Castleford’s first try. 7

Bench

Brad Dwyer: The hooker was as lively as ever and helped change the tempo off the bench. 6

Cameron Smith: One of Leeds’ leading performers as he showed he has the lot, with one particularly crucial tackle to deny Jake Trueman in the second half. 7

Bodene Thompson: Full of energy and strong running during his time on the park. 6

James Donaldson: Only a short stint and he found the going tough in the middle. 5
