Leeds Rhinos injury update as key man prepares for return

Luke Gale and Kyle Eastmond could link up for the first time against Wakefield Trinity with both set to return to the field next week.

The halfback duo are both in contentions to return from injury next week having overcome thumb and hamstring injuries respectively.

Gale has missed a month after fracturing his thumb, while Eastmond picked up a grade one hamstring tear that saw him miss last week's defeat to Huddersfield.

The news comes after the club provided an extensive update on all their injured players, as well as expected return dates.

Richard Agar's squad has been decimated through injuries, which has played its part in a slow start to the season.

Rob Lui and Tom Holroyd are expected to be the next two to return, with the club confirming they should be available for selection by the end of the month as they overcome quad and leg injuries.

Centre Harry Newman is now expected to return from a double leg break in June, and Cameron Smith is expected to return at the same time after he suffered a serious hamstring injury last month.

There is concern over Alex Sutcliffe, who sustained a knee injury against the Giants. There is no return date currently set on the youngster.

As expected, fullback Jack Walker will miss the entire season with a foot injury that has continued to trouble him for over 12 months. He is now off crutches, seven weeks since surgery, but is still in a protective boot.

Richie Myler and Zane Tetevano will miss the game against Trinity through suspension but will return the week after.
