Leeds Rhinos dealt major blow as key man fails HIA in England game

Ash Handley will sit out Leeds Rhinos’ next two games after failing a HIA during England’s clash with the Combined Nations All Stars at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

The winger was introduced late in the first half after being named on the bench but lasted only a matter of minutes before suffering a head knock.

Handley underwent a head injury assessment in the hope of returning after half-time.

But he was unable to prove his fitness as his England debut ended in bitter disappointment.

As well as missing out on the chance to impress Shaun Wane, Handley will be sidelined when Leeds take on Salford Red Devils on Sunday.

He will also miss the Headingley date with Leigh Centurions next Thursday.

It is a major blow for a Rhinos outfit preparing to return to action after an enforced one-month break due to a Covid-19 outbreak.

Richard Agar had planned to ask all five of his international players to back up on Sunday - Luke Gale, Mikolaj Oledzki, Kruise Leeming and Matt Prior the others – but he must now rejig his side.
