Leeds Rhinos Aidan Sezer appeal successful as halfbacks ban cut in half

Leeds Rhinos' Aidan Sezer has won his appeal against a 2-match suspension imposed for a Grade C intentional trip during Sunday's match against Salford Red Devils.

The successful appeal means his ban has been reduced to a Grade B charge with a one-game suspension. The halfback will still miss Friday's trip to Hull KR but is available for the following clash with Warrington at Headingley.

The former Huddersfield Giants ace was one of three Leeds players to receive bans after the Salford victory, with Rhyse Martin suspended for one match and David Fusitu'a being banned for two matches alongside Sezer at the time. Leeds opted not to contest either of those two, so all three will be unavailable for the trip to East Hull on Friday evening.

Although it isn't the perfect outcome, the Rhinos will take boosts wherever they can take them at the moment, as Rohan Smith's men look to continue their fine Super League form as the race for the top six intensifies this week against Hull KR. The news comes just minutes after Hull FC announced the capture of long-serving Rhino Liam Sutcliffe, who will join the Black and Whites on a three-year deal from 2023.
