Leeds records more than 100 new Covid-19 cases as almost 400 confirmed in Yorkshire

More than 100 new cases of the coronavirus have been diagnosed in Leeds in the past 24 hours as 390 cases were confirmed recorded across Yorkshire.

Leeds saw the most significant number of new cases with 105 confirmed, followed by Bradford where 92 cases were recorded.

Between the two neighbouring cities,197 cases were confirmed - over half of the cases in Yorkshire according to the figures by Public Health England.

This now means 6,115 have tested positive for the virus in Yorkshire since the beginning of the pandemic.

However, the latest seven-day rolling figures show the overal infection rate in Bradford and Leeds had slightly decreased while Kirklees' infection rate has surged from 47.8 (cases per 100,000 people) to 70.7.

Confirmed cases of coronavirus in Yorkshire over the past 24 hours:

  • Leeds was 5,725 now 5,830 (+105)

  • Wakefield - was 2,336 now 2,361 (+25)

  • North Yorkshire - was 3,134 now 3168 (+34)

  • Sheffield - was 5,239 now 5275 (+36)

  • Barnsley - was 2,285 now 2293 (+8)

  • Bradford - was 7,305 now 7397 (+92)

  • Calderdale - was 1,423 now 1434 (+11)

  • Rotherham - was 2,380 now 2393 (+13)

  • Kirklees - was 3,572 now 3613 (+41)

  • York - was 1,070 now 1085 (+15)

  • Doncaster - was 2,193 now 2202 (+9)

  • East Yorkshire - was 1,824 now 1828 (+4)

  • Hull - was 1,678 now 1675 (-3)
