Leeds records more new coronavirus cases than Bradford as 126 confirmed across county

Yorkshire has diagnosed 126 new coronavirus cases with Leeds recording more cases than Bradford in the last 24 hours.

Leeds had the biggest increase with 39, followed closely by Bradford which saw a rise of 28.

19 new cases were confirmed in Kirklees and Calderdale saw an increase of only five cases in this time.

This news comes after parts Health Secretary Matt Hancock announced some parts of West Yorkshire will no longer be in lockdown as of September 2.

Restrictions will be lifted in Bradford, Calderdale and Kirklees but Dewsbury, Batley, Halifax, Keighley and the Bradford city area will remain in local lockdown.

No coronavirus deaths were recorded today in Yorkshire meaning county’s total death toll remains at 2,592.

The coronavirus death toll for hospitals across England is now at 29,541.

Confirmed cases of coronavirus in Yorkshire:

  • Leeds - was 4,380 now 4,419 (+39)

  • Wakefield - was 2,092 now 2,098 (+6)

  • North Yorkshire - was 2,703 now 2,710 (+7)

  • Sheffield - was 4,608 now 4,618 (+10)

  • Barnsley - was 2,121 now 2,126 (+5)

  • Bradford - was 6,094 now 6,122 (+28)

  • Calderdale - was 1,164 now 1,169 (+5)

  • Rotherham - was 2,158 now 2,161 (+3)

  • Kirklees - was 2,953 now 2,972 (+19)

  • York - was 959 now 961 (+2)

  • Doncaster - was 2,073 now 2,072

  • East Yorkshire - was 1,703 now 1,705 (+2)

  • Hull - was 1,611 now 1,612 (+1)
