Leeds records highest daily Covid-19 cases and deaths figure in Yorkshire

Leeds has recorded the highest number of Covid-19 cases and deaths in the past 24 hours.

A further 212 people in the area tested positive for the virus, bringing the total number of cases to 35,356.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was also the trust to record the highest daily deaths figure with 14.

Across Yorkshire a further 1,500 people have tested positive, bringing the county's total to 200,982 confirmed cases.

A total of 43 Covid-19 deaths were recorded across 11 NHS trusts in the last 24 hours.

Like other parts in Yorkshire, Leeds continues to see its infection rate drop.

While the area will be placed under Tier 3 post-lockdown, there is a chance that the area could change tier before Christmas.

This will depend on a number of factors such as infection rates and hospital admissions.

Newly confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Yorkshire over the past 24 hours

A further 1,559 people in Yorkshire have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the county's total number of confirmed cases to 200,982.

Case numbers have continued to drop throughout the region during week three of the nation-wide lockdown.

The highest amount of new infections was recorded in Leeds followed by Bradford and Kirklees.

Five areas in Yorkshire recorded less than 100 new cases in a day, with the lowest number recorded in York.

43 Covid-19 deaths in Yorkshire's hospitals

There have been another 43 Covid-19 deaths recorded across Yorkshire hospitals.

So far, 4,229 people who contracted the virus have died in the county since the start of the pandemic.

Eleven NHS trusts across Yorkshire recorded new Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust saw the biggest number of deaths with the trust recording 14.

Across England, a further 289 people, who tested positive for the virus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 40,197.

Patients were aged between 27 and 100 years old. All except 16 (aged 45-92) had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from October 14 to November 27.

Their families have been informed.
