Leeds records highest daily Covid-19 cases and deaths figure in Yorkshire

Leeds has recorded the highest number of Covid-19 cases and deaths in the past 24 hours.

A further 212 people in the area tested positive for the virus, bringing the total number of cases to 35,356.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was also the trust to record the highest daily deaths figure with 14.

Across Yorkshire a further 1,500 people have tested positive, bringing the county's total to 200,982 confirmed cases.

A total of 43 Covid-19 deaths were recorded across 11 NHS trusts in the last 24 hours.

Like other parts in Yorkshire, Leeds continues to see its infection rate drop.

While the area will be placed under Tier 3 post-lockdown, there is a chance that the area could change tier before Christmas.

This will depend on a number of factors such as infection rates and hospital admissions.

Newly confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Yorkshire over the past 24 hours

A further 1,559 people in Yorkshire have tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the county's total number of confirmed cases to 200,982.

Case numbers have continued to drop throughout the region during week three of the nation-wide lockdown.

The highest amount of new infections was recorded in Leeds followed by Bradford and Kirklees.

Five areas in Yorkshire recorded less than 100 new cases in a day, with the lowest number recorded in York.

  • North Yorkshire - was 13,018 now 13,134 (+116)

  • Barnsley - was 10,310 now 10,371 (+61)
  • Bradford - was 28,584 now 28,786 (+202)
  • Calderdale - was 7,836 now 7,922 (+86)
  • Rotherham - was 10,748 now 10,839 (+91)
  • Kirklees - was 18,703 now 18,889 (+186)
  • York - was 5,590 now 5,612 (+22)
  • Doncaster - was 11,589 now 11,689 (+100)
  • East Yorkshire - was 9,557 now 9,655 (+98)
  • Hull - was 10,104 now 10,205 (+101)

43 Covid-19 deaths in Yorkshire's hospitals

There have been another 43 Covid-19 deaths recorded across Yorkshire hospitals.

So far, 4,229 people who contracted the virus have died in the county since the start of the pandemic.

Eleven NHS trusts across Yorkshire recorded new Covid-19 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust saw the biggest number of deaths with the trust recording 14.

Across England, a further 289 people, who tested positive for the virus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 40,197.

Patients were aged between 27 and 100 years old. All except 16 (aged 45-92) had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from October 14 to November 27.

Their families have been informed.

Yorkshire's infection rates

Infection rates continue to fall across Yorkshire.

As it stands, Hull currently has the highest rate in the county with 415.7 cases per 100,000 people.

This is followed by Kirklees (349.3) and Bradford (331.2), according to the data on the government website.

The lowest infection rate was recorded in York.
