Leeds reacts to mum who still breastfeeds her kids at 5 and 6 and says 'It's no one else's business'

People across Leeds have been reacting to the story of a Wakefield mum who still breastfeeds her sons at the ages of five and six.

Sheryl Wynne, 39, feeds sons Riley, six and Mylo, five, before and after school - and says she will keep going until they want her to stop.

Many have been saying that it's each mother's decision what to do about breastfeeding.

Courtney Bullivant wrote: "Everyone is entitled to their own opinion however if you see a mother feeding her children as weird or sexual then YOU are the problem."

Similarly, Jodie Bovey-Brown said: "Not your boobs, not your business! Just because it’s not something you would do or feel comfortable with doesn’t make it wrong."

However, lots of people also said that while they support breastfeeding, five and six seems pretty late.

Sonia Bryer commented: "I am a great believer of breast feeding, I fed all my three children. It's a lovely thing to do for a child, but this is far too long in my opinion."

Similarly, Kathleen Lovatt said: "I wouldn't make that public. It may really embarrass them when they grow up. I am a massive advocate for breast feeding.

"I did all of my children till 14 months. But, once they eat and drink they don't need it."

Other people raised concerns about the reaction from other children at school.

Katherine Allen said: "Personally nothing against her choice but I wonder about the impact on her kids after 5yrs. Society pretty cruel and school full of bullies.

"Also when kids have got teeth.. well, maybe that's a signal it's time to wean."
