Leeds pub finds hilarious way to remain open during second national lockdown

A Leeds pub has thought of a hilarious but genius way to remain open during the second lockdown.

Due to the new Covid restrictions announced yesterday (October 31) by Boris Johnson, pubs, bars and restaurants will have to close across England.

However, school and universities will remain open.

Under Tier 3 restrictions which were supposed to be imposed in West Yorkshire from today, The Cardigan Arms, a Kirkstall brewery, would have been allowed to stay open as they sell food.

But under the new lockdown rules, they will have to shut.

In a bid to remain open, they jokingly tweeted: “We have decided to become a school.”

At a Downing Street press conference, Boris Johnson said “no responsible Prime Minister can ignore” the rising rates of Covid-19 infections, as he acknowledged that cases had not come down fast enough in the worst affected areas.

He added: "We know the cost of these restrictions – the impact on jobs and livelihoods, and people’s mental health. No-one wants to be imposing these measures.”
