Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani is set to sell a significant stake in the club, according to reports.
Radrizzani, who turned down an approach from Paris Saint-Germain's owners the Qatar Sports Investment last year, paid just £45m to buy the club in 2014.
Now, however, the club’s value is set to skyrocket to £240m with the sale of an extra stake to NFL franchise the San Francisco 49ers.
The 49ers purchased a 10 per-cent stake in the club back in 2018 after Radrizzani convinced them to buy in.
And now, their owners are ready to more than double their share of the club and take a 25 per-cent stake with an extra investment, claims the Daily Mail.
The investment will see Leeds jump up in the list of most valuable Premier League clubs, as Transfermarkt currently values the Whites at £163m.
The 49ers owners have apparently been impressed with the club’s future under Marcelo Bielsa, with Leeds looking to become an established Premier League side.
Paraag Marathe, the 49ers president, is already on the Leeds board and spoke recently about his desire to see the club grow in England’s top tier.
Speaking in October, he said: “The sky is the limit for Leeds,
“This is not a club where we made it to the Premier League and we are barely trying to hang on by the laces of our shoes. No. This is a club which can become a big contender.”
Radrizzani was recently quizzed about the possibility of expanding his ownership beyond Leeds and buying another club within Europe, but he insisted his priority is the Elland Road side.
He said: "There are clubs in Europe that looking at potential sales, but we are at this moment very focused on Leeds United so I don't see anything concrete in the short period.
"But over time we will be keeping the eyes open to potentially evaluate the project on a bigger scale.
"As I said in another interview I have a vision to create a group of two or three clubs, but with a strong integration on the football side based in Europe, in other European leagues."
