Leeds neighbourhood named one of the most "millennial" in the country

A neighbourhood near Leeds Dock has been identified as one of the most "millennial" in the country - with nearly two thirds of residents part
of Generation Y.

The Reach Data Unit has analysed the population figures of hyper-local neighbourhoods in England - areas of around 1,500 people.

Their findings have revealed that one neighbourhood near Leeds Dock, also incorporating parts of Hunslet, has a higher proportion of millennials than anywhere else in Leeds.

Some 61% of people living there are aged between 25 and 39 - loosely defined as “Generation Y” - one of the highest proportions in the country.

A further 24% are Gen Z (aged 5-24) and 10% are Gen X (40-54).

Only 2% are Baby Boomers (aged 55-74) and 1% part of the Silent Generation (75+).

A further 2% of residents are infants under the age of five, whose generation has yet to be given an official name.

Another three neighbourhoods in Leeds see millennials make up more than half of residents - including one near Leeds train station, one in Richmond Hill and another surrounding Crown Point Shopping Park.

In comparison, a neighbourhood in Kippax is the most “Boomer” area in Leeds, with 40% of residents part of the post-war generation.

It makes it one of the top neighbourhoods in England with the highest proportion of Boomers, although the figure isn’t quite as high as it is in the number one spot.

That goes to a neighbourhood in Mablethorpe, East Lindsey, where 51% of residents are aged 55-74.

Leeds as a whole is only as millennial as the national average, with 26% of residents aged 25-39 - the same proportion as England.

That works out as some 11.2 million people across the country.
