A Leeds man has created a powerful picture of hope amid the coronavirus pandemic - and wants to use it for the benefit of our NHS heroes.
Daniel Darby, 32, hopes to sell the painting and donate the money to the NHS.
The picture is of a doctor and a nurse in dark woods, created to symbolise a dark time, with a rainbow for hope, and light between the two figures.
The father of four says he is inspired by Bob Ross’ show, The Joy of Painting, and used a ‘scrunched up baby wipe’ to create black and white effects of the leaves on the canvas.
Daniel, from Kirkstall, said: “I’m not an artist but I used to draw years ago when I was a kid.
“There’s a lot of stuff going around with the coronavirus stuff and rainbows. I’m more into landscapes and I said I will add figures and see how it comes together.
“In my teens, I used to like to go to sleep with Joy of Painting playing in the background, he (Bob Ross) paints in landscapes and I have got inspiration from him and I have used some of his painting style.
“My children can’t believe I can do something like that they are all proud, my wife Lisa keeps putting my work out there I don’t have a great deal of confidence in it and some gets dumped in the bin or the spare bedroom.
“If it wasn’t for her they would be in my spare room not getting any appreciation.”
Daniel plans to paint a few more paintings to sell following the positive reactions his work has received online.
All the money raised will be donated to the NHS.
