Leeds man confirmed as casualty on train line near Morley

British Transport Police have confirmed that the person who died after being hit by a train near Morley on Monday afternoon was a 26-year-old man from Leeds.

Police and paramedics were called at 3.45pm after . The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident led to a number of trains being cancelled or severely delayed, as the train line was blocked for more than an hour.

Some passengers were put onto replacement bus services, while people travelling to London were told to get a train to York instead and travel onwards from there.

Officers confirmed that the man's family have been informed.

His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
