Leeds man charged with murdering his wife after woman, 39, dies in Harehills house

A Leeds man has been charged with murdering his wife after a 39-year-old woman was found dead in a terraced house in Harehills.

Sajid Pervez, 37, has been accused of killing Abida Karim, whose name and picture has been released for the first time by West Yorkshire Police this afternoon.

It comes after police descended on Hovingham Terrace in Harehills on Friday, September 24, with the force later confirming a woman had died at the property.

Police said Ms Karim's death was being treated as a domestic-related murder and her husband will now appear before Leeds Magistrates' Court tomorrow.

On the day of the alleged murder, three women were seen shouting 'women beaters', 'killer' and 'rapist' while they were walking up Hovingham Terrace.

Neighbours told LeedsLive they were devastated by Ms Karim's death with CSI vans and police officers flooding the street to investigate on Friday morning.
