Leeds man, 25, charged after 500 cannabis plants found growing in Hyde Park house

A man has appeared in court after a cannabis farm with more than 500 plants was found in Leeds.

West Yorkshire Police were called to reports of a burglary at an address in Autumn Avenue, Hyde Park, where three men were seen running off yesterday (Tuesday).

When they attended to the address they found cannabis growing in three neighbouring homes.

Sabri Canaku, 25, of Autumn Avenue, was arrested at the scene and charged with production of cannabis.

A spokesperson for the force said he was due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court this morning (Wednesday).

A statement from the force said: “At 3.12am yesterday, police were called to a report of a burglary at an address in Autumn Avenue, Hyde Park, where three males had been seen running off.

“When officers attended they found a cannabis growing set-up within three neighbouring houses, consisting of more than 500 plants.

“A man was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged with production of cannabis.

“He is Sabri Canaku, aged 25, of Autumn Avenue, Hyde Park.

“He was due to appear at Leeds Magistrates Court this morning.”
