Leeds in traffic chaos as city roads came to a "standstill"

Leeds roads were in chaos on Thursday night (November 21), after a man fell from a bridge near the Armley Gyratory.

The injured man was taken to hospital for treatment of non life-threatening leg injuries after the incident just after 2pm.

However drivers and those on public transport faced huge delays late into the evening after police closed the outbound A643 Ingram Distributor.

Roads in and around Leeds city centre were described as "at a standstill" while bus companies said routes to and from the city were delayed from between 30-70 minutes.

A bus passenger told Leeds Live how he had travelled half a mile through the city during the course of an hour.

He said: "The mood on the bus is not good - with people standing up it's so rammed" .
