Manchester United's Phil Jones could leave on loan and more transfer rumours

Manchester United are open to late loan offers for Phil Jones ahead of this summer's transfer deadline.

The Northern Echo report Newcastle boss Steve Bruce is 'hopeful' of securing a new loan signing and it's said that the former United defender turned manager is keen to add another central defender to the ranks and Jones could fit that billing.

The article reaffirms previous reports that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would be open to sanctioning a loan move for Jones, too.

Newcastle have been regularly linked with Jones this summer, but with the North East side currently strapped for cash, a permanent deal looks highly unlikely - Jones' contract at United expires in 2023 and he hasn't played for the club since January 2020.

There could be yet another twist in the Jesse Lingard saga this summer because The Mirror report David Moyes is planning on meeting with the United playmaker to discuss a late transfer, but it's claimed that yet another loan offer would be the Irons' proposed deal.

The MEN understand Lingard has not been given a definitive decision on whether he is staying at United and those at the club value the 28-year-old at £25m and therefore West Ham's loan enquiry is likely to be unsatisfactory.

There could be more updates yet to come on Lingard's future, though.
