Leeds hospitals have not recorded a new coronavirus death for almost two weeks

Hospitals in Leeds have not recorded any new coronavirus deaths for almost two weeks.

Figures from NHS England show that the last recorded death in the city's hospitals was in the 24 hour period to 5pm on July 14 - meaning 13 consecutive days with zero deaths recorded.

Across Yorkshire, NHS England has confirmed one new coronavirus death in the latest figures (deaths recorded between 4pm on Sunday and 4pm on Monday), at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

York has not recorded the death of a coronavirus patient for over a month, with the last confirmed death on June 18 - while Barnsley has recorded zero coronavirus death for over two weeks.

Harrogate and Sheffield have not recorded new deaths for 10 and 8 consecutive days respectively.

NHS England reported today that a further 12 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 29,303.

Patients were aged between 45 and 99 years old. All had known underlying health conditions. Their families have been informed.
