Leeds hospitals approaching a fortnight with no new coronavirus deaths

Leeds hospitals have not recorded a new coronavirus death for almost a fortnight.

The latest figures from the NHS showed that no coronavirus patients being cared for by the Leeds NHS Trusts have died during the past 13 days.

It means the death toll for Leeds since the start of the outbreak remains at 340.

Across Yorkshire, one new death was recorded by Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, taking the region's death toll to 2,591.

Nationally, nine new deaths have been recorded in hospitals.

An NHS spokesperson said: "A further nine people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 29,524.

"The patients were between 39 and 84 years old and all had known underlying health conditions.

"Date of death ranges from 22- 25 August 2020, with the majority on Tuesday 25 August.

"Their families have been informed."
