Leeds has third highest rise in Covid-19 cases in Yorkshire in latest figures

Leeds has seen the third highest rise in new coronavirus cases in Yorkshire according to the latest figures.

There have been another 105 cases of the virus recorded in Yorkshire.

Almost half of the cases of the virus were recorded in Bradford with the city confirming another 47 cases of Covid-19.

Elsewhere in Yorkshire Calderdale recorded the second highest jump in cases with a further 12 and Leeds after that with another 11.

It comes as a decision on the lockdown in parts of West Yorkshire is expected on Friday, August 7, following a review of the current restrictions on Thursday.

Kirklees confirmed another eight cases of the virus in the area.

Only two areas of the county recorded no rise at all, Kingston Upon Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire.

This means that 31,763 people have now tested positive for the virus in the county since the pandemic began.

  • Leeds - was 3,914 now 3,925 (+11)
  • Wakefield - was 1,887 now 1,891 (+4)
  • North Yorkshire - was 2,587 now 2,591 (+4)
  • Sheffield - was 4,328 now 4,334 (+6)
  • Barnsley - was 2,007 now 2,009 (+2)
  • Bradford - was 5,221 now 5,268 (+47)
  • Calderdale - was 937 now 949 (+12)
  • Rotherham - was 2,061 now 2,067 (+6)
  • Kirklees - was 2,521 now 2,529 (+8)
  • York - was 927 now 928 (+1)
  • Doncaster - was 2,033 now 2,037 (+4)
  • East Riding of Yorkshire - still 1,658
  • Hull - still 1,577
