Leeds has been named the happiest city in the UK - and this is why

People who live in London, Manchester and Birmingham are left trailing in the wake of Leeds folks when it comes to pure happiness.

That's the finding from a recent report, which has found Leeds to be the happiest major city in the UK.

And it's reckoned that the happiness of people in Leeds is mainly down to the fact that a big emphasis is placed on our wellbeing.

It's not just older people who are happy though, as student satisfaction in Leeds ranks higher than any of the other cities analysed in the study by Safestore.

The vast number of volunteering opportunities is an indication of just how much happiness we're willing to give back, with no other city on the list having more chances to do their bit for the community.

Leeds topped the poll and Birmingham was found to be the second happiest city, with Edinburgh not too far behind.

All in all, nine major cities were considered in the report, with Glasgow found to be the least happy of all the places surveyed.

Perhaps Glaswegians should look at moving to Leeds...
