Leeds hammer gang on mopeds smash up man's face for no reason

Police are appealing for information after a man was attacked with a hammer in Leeds.

A man in his thirties was seriously injured in the unprovoked attack which happened in The Oval, Seacroft, at about 1.30pm on May 10.

The man was treated in hospital for a broken eye socket and broken jaw after being assaulted by two of three males who approached him on two mopeds

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "The suspect who wielded the hammer was wearing an aqua blue helmet and was on a white moped. "Enquiries in the area have found CCTV of the suspects at a nearby petrol station shortly before the attack.

"Anyone who knows who the male with the distinctive helmet is or who has any information that could assist in identifying the suspects is asked to contact DC 3198 Ellis at Leeds District CID via 101 quoting crime reference 13220251006 or online via www.westyorkshire.police.uk/101livechat Information can be given anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
