Leeds graduate who worked on Game of Thrones, Sherlock and the Crown to tell all at Leeds event

A celebrated cinematographer who led the filming on three seasons of Game of Thrones will be discussing his trade secrets in a lecture for Leeds Beckett University.

Fabian Wagner, a graduate of the university, will be talking about his work on the fantasy smash hit for which he was nominated for an Emmy award.

German-born Wagner, who was also nominated for an Emmy for his work on the BBC sleuth series Sherlock, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, will deliver his talk online for the university's Inside/Outside lecture series.

It takes place tomorrow (March 17) from 2.30pm to 4pm. You can register to watch it here.

After completing his diploma in Denmark, Wagner came to Leeds to study for a masters at the Northern Film School.

He began shooting music videos and commercials before he became chief cinematographer on the BBC1 spy drama Spooks.

Wagner worked on the second series of Sherlock, superhero flick Justice League and two episodes of the Netflix British royal family biopic The Crown.

As well as an Emmy nomination, his work on Game of Thrones earned him an American Society of Cinematographers award and an invitation to join the elite society.

Leeds Beckett University says: "For the past 10 years Fabian has been very active in helping and supporting young filmmakers and cinematographers.

"He is a mentor for BAFTA and takes on trainees privately as well as doing talks and masterclasses all over the world. Helping future generations of filmmakers has become one of his biggest passions."
