Leeds goes 28 days without a single coronavirus death in hospital

Hospitals in Leeds have not lost a patient to Covid-19 in four weeks.

NHS figures show the last coronavirus-related death at a hospital in the city was recorded 28 days ago, on July 15.

Today, NHS England announced another six people, including one in Sheffield, have died after testing positive for the virus.

The patients were aged between 48 and 93 years old and all of them had underlying health conditions. 

That means 2,583 coronavirus patients have died at Yorkshire hospitals during the pandemic.

Leeds has recorded the highest number of coronavirus-related hospital deaths (338) in Yorkshire since March, but Bradford now has the highest number of confirmed cases (5,440) and the highest infection (1,026.9) rate in the county.

And according to figures published by the Office for National Statistics, the virus has claimed the lives of 712 people in Leeds.
