If you were in Leeds city centre this afternoon (Saturday) you might have seen a group of people walking around in elaborate fur costumes.
Leeds Fur group had their monthly meet in the city centre and went around for an hour interacting with the public. The group of costumers and fans of Anthropomorphic animals has been running for more than two decades.
The costumes include foxes, cats, dragons, dinosaurs and even bats.

They meet on the third weekend of each month as they express themselves in arts and crafts.
Julian, 35, has been a member of the group since he was 19-years-old and heard about the group through a friend. He said: “I’ve been here [in the group] for a while but wasn’t here when it started. It’s a worldwide thing, Leeds has a small branch.
“The costumes can be expensive, they can be between £600 to £3,000 but they are one of a kind bespoke costumes handmade by various individuals around the world. It can get hot inside, that's why I don't wear a costume anymore.”
Julian added: "It's allowing people to express themselves in arts and crafts."
According to the Leeds Furs website, the first meet took place on April 28, 2001, as part of the NorthernFurs meet rotation. They started off with fewer than 10 people in the group and it has grown since. They now hold regular monthly furry meets on the third weekend of the month.
