Leeds Festival 2023 headliners hint and when we'll get first line up announcement

Leeds Festival 2022 is becoming something of a distant memory with plans for next year’s fun at Bramham Park starting to come into the thinking of many.

We’ve previously brought you news of Melvin Benn, managing director of Festival Republic, who oversee Leeds Festival and its sister event Reading Festival, telling us three headliners are already booked for next year’s fun - without confirming any names. Speaking to the NME, Melvin said: “Three are booked and one is pretty close to finishing.

“There’s the current usual back and forth about how many pounds or dollars they should get and that sort of stuff. In theory, we’ve nearly got four done but we’re not quite done with the fourth.”

Once again, Leeds Festival will have six headliners. The festival boss hasn’t confirmed who the acts are but has said two of the four acts have previously headlined the two events.

We should have the first line up announcement for Leeds Festival and Reading Festival relatively soon. Melvin confirmed: “The line up should be revealed before Christmas.”

The Leeds Fest boss didn’t confirm who would be headlining but as made reference to some artists from 2022 he can see rising up the bill in years to come. “I don’t necessarily want to talk about headlining, really,” Melvin said.

“Willow was really, really amazing. She’s doing well and has a couple of nights at Brixton sold out. Everybody knows every word and she’s definitely going places.

“Denzel Curry – wow, what a show. Could he go all the way to the top? There’s no reason for him not to. There are a huge amount of acts who have got that capability. I don’t know why one does and one doesn’t. It’s all about what the audience think and whether they want it.”
