Leeds dealt Ben White transfer blow as Brighton defender's future remains unclear

Leeds have seen a second bid for Ben White turned down by Brighton despite the defender turning down two contract offers from the Seagulls.

The Whites secured promotion back to the top flight following a 16 year absence with the 22-year-old centre-half playing a crucial role.

Leeds tabled an £18m bid that was rejected and subsequently returned with a £22m offer.

The Seagulls have again rebuffed their interest as they look to bring White into the first team picture at the Amex, reports Sky Sports.

White's impressive season at Elland Road has attracted interest from the likes of Liverpool while the Yorkshire outfit still hope they can secure his services permanently.

The defender has two years remaining on his deal on the south coast but has rejected two offers of an extension.

Seagulls boss Darren Potter has previously said that White is their player and remains part of their plans.

“He’s contracted with us and he’s on loan at Leeds. He’s our player,” he said last month.

But White hinted that he would be making some tough decisions regarding his future when he posted on social media thanking everyone at Leeds.

"Having had some time to reflect on what has been the most incredible season I wanted to take the time to thank everyone associated with Leeds United Football Club, including the incredible supporters," he wrote.

"No matter what happens from here I will never forget the way you took me in and treated me as one of your own from day one. These memories and experiences will be with me forever."

White was the only player to be picked by Marcelo Bielsa in every Leeds game as they claimed the Championship title and kept 22 clean sheets.
