Leeds coming of age comedy Ladhood is back with a season two this month it has been revealed.
The show, which has been compared to The Inbetweeners, is back on BBC Three on Sunday 15, August.
Ladhood was created by Garforth-born BAFTA-nominated comedian Liam Williams and is adapted from his original BBC Radio 4 series.
The show flips between two timelines as Liam explores the roots of modern-day masculinity, by delving into the memories of his own misspent adolescence during the early noughties in Garforth.
Ladhood launched in December 2019 on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer, it then earned a slot on BBC One in January this year.
The second series will see Liam and his friends navigate through the highs and lows of teenagehood as they experience GCSE results, driving tests, breakups and their first big night out in the town, in the early noughties.
Speaking at the end of the first series, Liam said: “They were teenage boys and will continue to be teenage boys.
“They’re slightly older they’re trying to get into nightclubs, learning to drive.
“Their fashion changes a little bit. I remember getting that age wanting to wear slightly more fashionable clothes, less sportswear, a bit of Fred Perry, Lacoste.
“There’s indie music having a look into that world. The music for the series is from 2004-2005, we kept a lot of the music from that time. It’s generally the early noughties, with similar aesthetics from the first series.
“I hope people connect with it, I find a lot of people who say nice things aren’t my age or didn’t grow up in the north.
“We make sure the show is also accessible to people who might not have lived this experience first hand.”
Liam added: “It’s not put Leeds on the map, Leeds was already on the map but it has put Garforth on the map.”
