Leeds City Council car parks free weekends announced including May Bank Holiday

All Leeds City Council car parks and street spaces in Leeds and Otley will be free to use for the next two weekends - including the May Bank Holiday.

Signs have been posted on parking meters and parking fees were also waived at the weekend (April 17/18).

It has been confirmed that parking will also be free for the weekends of April 24-25 and the May Bank Holiday weekend, May 1-3. Maximum stay times will still apply.

Leeds City Council has previously been criticised by Conservative councillor Matthew Robinson for re-introducing parking charges after the lifting of lockdown restrictions – and proposed reintroduction of free parking to help boost city centre footfall.

The reopenings saw Leeds packed with shoppers, with beer gardens and terraces filled with diners and drinkers.

At the weekend there were large queues outside McDonald's Zara and Footlocker.
