Leeds City Council announces parking charges will return on July 4

Parking charges will resume from July 4 after the council temporarily scrapped fees two months ago.

The change comes after all car parks run by Leeds City Council were free to use following the coronavirus outbreak.

However, the authority has now said that parking charges will be back at standard prices from next weekend.

Drivers in the city centre can get temporary discounted parking of £1 per hour or £5 a day by using the Parkmobile app.

This is in the hope that using the parking app will encourage people to avoid touching the machines.

A spokesperson for the council said: “Payment at parking machines will resume at standard prices from 4th July.

"The ParkMobile app will resume at a temporary discount of £1 per hour or £5 per day in the city centre.

"People are encouraged to use ParkMobile where possible to avoid touching the machines.”
