Leeds Bradford Airport has started flights to Tunisia again

Holidaymakers can now fly to Tunisia again from Leeds Bradford Airport.

The first flight to Enfidha took off yesterday (Wednesday), operated by Tunisian airline Nouvelair on behalf of Thomas Cook.

Holidaymakers can choose from over 25 different resorts, including Thomas Cook’s SENTIDO brand. Excursions to explore Tunisia’s Roman heritage including Carthage and El Djem are also available.

Enfidha airport serves the city of Sousse - the location of the 2015 terror attack which killed 38 tourists.

30 of those killed were British after a gunman opened fire at the Hotel Riu Bellevue. So-called Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack which saw airlines suspend flights to the country in its aftermath.

British tourists have since begun returning to Tunisia, and Leeds Bradford Airport’s Aviation and Commercial Director, John Cunliffe said:

"It’s fantastic to see Enfidha as a destination from Leeds Bradford Airport. Tunisia is an increasingly popular destination and one we feel will be very popular with the people of Yorkshire.

"We look forward to welcoming Nouvelair to Leeds Bradford Airport on a weekly basis throughout the summer.’

The flights will operate once a week, on a Tuesday until September 24.
