Plans for a brand new £150 million terminal at Leeds Bradford Airport have been approved following years of controversy.
The detailed proposals, which include a new three-storey terminal at the eastern edge of the runway, were given the green light during a lengthy, and at times feisty, planning meeting.
Planning officers recommended that decision-makers should give the new building the green light and a decision was finally reached after more than eight hours of deliberations.

But environmentalists have argued the plans should not have even been considered at a time when Leeds City Council has declared a climate emergency.
Airport chiefs say that new terminal will be built to the highest environmental standards though, while the increase in passenger numbers to seven million a year has already been approved as part of a separate application.

Leeds City Council Plans Panel chair Cllr James McKenna cast the final vote, with nine councillors voting in favour of the plans. Just five councillors rejected the proposals.
Some concerns were expressed about the plans, but these will be ironed out at a later stage, said Cllr McKenna.
As part of the plans, longer flying hours were also approved. The daytime period will now be extended by 90 minutes and the restrictive night-time slot will cover 11.30pm to 6am. The current restrictions apply from 11pm to 7am.
Leeds Bradford Airport chairman Andy Clarke had earlier said the new terminal will transform Leeds into "a modern city with a modern airport".
Work on the building is expected to start this year, with the new airport building to open to passengers in 2023.
