The founder of a Yorkshire boiler company has offered a simple piece of advice, which could save you thousands of pounds every year. Andy Kerr, founder of BOXT boilers in Leeds, said that not getting your boiler serviced on an annual basis could be costing you dearly.
He has warned that failing to have your boiler serviced annually could actually be costing you thousands of pounds, whereas a simple service may only set you back a few hundred. And the experts at Boxt have also warned that failing to get your boiler serviced every year could actually invalidate your warranty.
They explain: "If you still have a remaining warranty on your boiler, make sure you’re getting it serviced every year in case you ever need to claim the warranty. Not having an annual service invalidates the warranty, meaning that if anything goes wrong, you’ll have to foot the bill."

The best way to keep the costs of a service cheap is to have a full cover plan in place, which means that you do not have to worry about forgetting a service and accidentally invalidating your warranty. Andy says that a cover plan could cost you as little as £8 per month, which works out at less than £100 a year.
He says: "You may save money in the short term, but not having a regular boiler service can put you and your family at risk, not to mention financially out of pocket. The average cost of repairing your boiler can be between £100 and £500, depending on the issue, and if you need an emergency repair this can add around £400 to the final bill.
"This costly expense can easily be avoided, and the best way to ensure that your boiler isn’t costing you more money than it should is by regularly servicing it. While one-off services may seem cheaper in the short term, with a boiler service or full cover plan, you get the peace of mind that your service will be arranged and the cost is covered by your monthly payments, and, depending on the type of cover plan you have, any necessary repairs could be covered too."
He continues: "A one-off service will cost you between £80 and £150, depending on the kind of boiler you own. A service plan, however, could cost you less than £8 pounds a month, under £100 each year, and will guarantee everything you need for your annual service is sorted."
The experts at Boxt have also warned that failing to get an annual boiler service could even invalidate your home insurance. This means that, should something go wrong with your boiler - a gas leak, for example - your home insurance provider may be able to wriggle out of covering the cost of damages.
With a cost of living crisis now upon us, many Brits are keen to keep their household goods running for as little money as possible and, you guessed it, getting an annual boiler service could keep the cost of this essential bit of kit down. With regular services, a boiler runs more efficiently and keeps energy consumption lower, therefore saving you money.
Regular servicing will also increase your boiler's lifespan, saving you thousands of pounds in the cost of a new boiler and installation. The average cost of a boiler with installation nowadays is between £1,500 and £3,500. But a regular boiler service helps to spot early warning signs of damage and can help to prevent bigger issues developing, maximising your boiler's lifespan of between 10 to 15 years.
Andy recommends finding a boiler cover plan that suits you and the type of boiler you have. He says: "You need to make sure that you’re finding the best cover plan out there. Some plans will offer a wider range of services compared to others."
