Leeds big name drive-in music concert series cancelled

A series of drive-in concerts from some huge acts in Leeds have been cancelled.

The shows, as part of a UK-wide schedule of gigs, had signed up Dizzee Rascal, Kaiser Chiefs, The Streets, Tony Hadley and many more.

The Leeds events were scheduled for Leeds East Airport later in the summer. It would have seen fans arrive in their cars and park up in front of the stage in an allotted space.

Those at the Live From The Drive-In gigs would have then had their own space to get out and enjoy the performance. The innovative idea was in response to the coronavirus pandemic and looked to ensure people remained socially distant.

But the outdoor events will now not go ahead with Live Nation confirming all those who purchased tickets will be refunded within the next seven days.

A spokesman said: "The Live From The Drive-In concert series will no longer proceed as planned this summer.

"We received huge support from artists, the live music production contractors, our headline sponsor Utilita along with our other partners, and of course you, the fans.

"However the latest developments regarding localised lockdowns mean it has become impossible for us to continue with the series with any confidence.

"We thank everyone for their support and eagerly await a time when we can watch live music together again. Full refunds will be issued directly to all ticket holders within the next 7 days."
