Leeds A6120 to be closed all weekend with big diversion in place

A stretch of the A6120 will be closed this weekend to allow for road resurfacing works.

From Friday, June 30 at 8pm, to Monday, July 3 at 6am, the A6120 Broadway between Fink Hill and Horsforth roundabout will be closed in both directions. This will be so the first phase of carriageway resurfacing can take place.

There will be two other planned weekend closures between July and September to allow for further work to take place. Footways will remain open.

Signs and notices will keep road users informed of the closures and traffic management will be in pace to provide a diversion and signs for drivers to follow.

Leeds City Council started construction in November last year to improve "connectivity" between communities on the northern and southern sides of the Ring Road. New pedestrian crossing facilities and cycling lanes, as well as a better junction layout have been provided.

Councillor Helen Hayden, Leeds City Council’s executive member for sustainable development and infrastructure, said: "I would like to thank road users for their patience in advance during this disruption. The work is progressing to time and we are still expecting to be finished this Winter. This area has also been point of congestion, as well as unwelcoming to cyclists and pedestrians.

"Our aims for the scheme will improve local connectivity, create new pedestrian crossing facilities, and cycle lanes, improve safety at the junction and reduce local congestion.

"We would like to urge motorists to please plan their journey in advance, follow the signed diversion and allow a bit of extra time for their travel. We have put together a signed diversion via www.leeds.gov.uk/planahead and again, thank you for your patience."
