Leeann Dempster slams Celtic fixture change as 'fizzing' Hibs chief insists club said NO to Hoops request

Furious Leeann Dempster has revealed Hibs did NOT agree to their New Year clash with Celtic being rearranged.

The outgoing Easter Road chief executive insists the SPFL have moved the Premiership fixture without consulting the Edinburgh club.

Earlier today, it was announced the Hibees' trip to Celtic Park had been moved from Saturday, January 9 to an unusual Monday, January 11 slot at 7.45pm.

The SPFL said the decison was made following a "club request", which Dempster has now confirmed did not come from Hibs.

Speaking out on social media, Dempster said sorry to Hibs fans and manager Jack Ross as she demanded to know why league bosses did not consult her or sporting director Graeme Mathie.

She wrote on Twitter: "Apologies to our supporters and our head coach.

"This was done without my knowledge - we said no to the original request from Celtic because the request didn’t work for our club.

"The SPFL appears to have agreed this without a call to the decision makers at our club. @spfl

"We are fizzing about this - @spfl know I am leaving soon (ish) but they still have my mobile number so a call should have been easy to do - or @gmathie82 or even to our Chairman. Not good enough. Move to Monday without asking us?"
