Lee Wallace retires from football as ex-Rangers, Hearts and Scotland defender calls time on career

LEE WALLACE has announced his retirement from football.

The former Rangers, Hearts and Scotland defender has called time on his career after making 475 professional appearances.

Wallace was capped 10 times for his country and scored 30 goals over the course of his career.

The 35-year-old was most recently plying his trade for QPR in the English Championship but was released this summer.

Wallace spent eight years at Ibrox and played a key role as the Govan outfit completed their journey back to top flight.

Wallace's wife announced the news on Twitter, saying: "475 professional club appearances, 30 career goals, 10 Scotland caps.

"Not bad for a young boy from Carrick Knowe! We are all so proud and enjoying having you home for a much deserved break and family time before the next step into coaching when the time is right."
