Lee Mack's love life - university wife, three children and savage money remark

Known for his quick wit and appearances on widely-loved panel shows, Lee Mack quickly became a household name.

He quickly rose to fame when he won So You Think You're Funny at the 1995 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The comedian, 54, is a fan-favourite panellist on Would I Lie To You? and also wrote and starred in Not Going Out.

In 2022, he began hosting the ITV game show The 1% Club, which is returning to our screens on April 15.

It sees 100 contestants start every episode as they answer IQ test-style questions in order to win the top prize of up to £100,000.

The questions get harder every round and contestants must correctly answer a question only 1% of the country would get right.

While Lee has made a name for himself on television, he keeps his personal life out of the spotlight.

The Have I Got News For You guest presenter met his wife Tara McKillop while he was a student at Brunel University in 1996.

They lived in the same apartment during their time at university.

Lee and Tara hit it off and, nine years later, they got married and welcomed three children - Arlie, Louie and Millie.

The couple lives in East Molesey in Surrey.

Lee, who has been with Tara for 18 years, previously revealed that some people assumed she was attracted to him because of his high profile and fortune.

Considering they met before he got famous, the rumours have no base.

"We talked the other day with Roisin Conaty," he once revealed.

"Her sister met Tara and said 'I assume you two have been together after you became a comedian and got a bit of money.'

"And I said 'no, no, we met before I ever was a comedian when we were at university.' And she looked aghast at why this woman would be with me."

He added: "And do you know what she said? 'Did you save her life or something?'

"I thought that's an incredibly bold statement to make after five minutes of meeting someone."

Lee and Tara share three children but they are not in the limelight like their father.

Arlo, the couple's first child, was born a year before their wedding in 2005.

Louie, their second son, was born shortly after their marriage.
