Lee Mack's 1% Club viewers recognise player from Channel 4 show

Lee Mack's brand new ITV quiz show debuted on Saturday, with members of the public invited to discover if they are in The 1% Club.

The Southport comedian hosts as episodes start with 100 contestants who must battle it out against each other to win a £100,000 cash prize. The 1% Club features people of all ages and with varying degrees of general knowledge.

To win the cash prize, contestants must answer a question only 1% of the population would guess correctly. Each contestant starts with £1,000 but, if they answer any question incorrectly, they are out of the game and their £1,000 goes straight into the prize pot for everyone to get the chance of winning.

Each time contestants flunk their answers the prize money swells. As the questions get harder and contestant numbers dwindle, host Lee breaks the tension with his quick-fire wit, teasing the contestants as their brains do somersaults in the battle to make it to the end of the show and a shot at the prize pot.

The tension mounted as groups of players were taken out of the running, with questions becoming tougher as the game progressed. After answering a question just 20% of people got correctly, Lee spoke to Vithun, a player who got it right.

When asked what he'd spend the £100,000 on if he won, Vithun said: "I'd invest it in the two most important things. One is property, because everyone needs a house.

"The other is wigs. In case my hairline recedes, then I'm prepared." Host Lee Mack was floored by the admission.

He said: "Do you have a history of hair loss in your family?". Vithun replied: "Not really, but I liked to be prepared."

Viewers quickly recognised Vithun - as he appeared on Channel 4 reality show The Circle in 2021. Taking to Twitter, Brett Hadley said: "Omg it's Vithun from the Circle!". Leigh Kirkham said: "It's what's his face from the circle"

Just Joe said: "Spotted the guy from The Circle in the audience". Timmy G said: "I swear I just saw Vithun from the circle. Ironically, they're all sat in a circle".
