Lee Johnson weighs in on Leeds United's collapse in form

Lee Johnson has had his say on Leeds United’s poor run of form heading into Bristol City’s next trip to Elland Road on Saturday.

The Robins are on top of the league’s form table with five wins from their last six matches while United’s run stretched to two wins from their last 11 outings on Tuesday night.

A Bristol win on Saturday would see the teams tied on 56 points, less than six weeks after the gap, at its biggest, stood at 14 points on New Year’s Day.

Johnson’s side would need other results to go their way to break into the play-off places on Saturday evening, however.

Asked how he saw their push for the play-offs, the head coach pointed to how far the Whites have fallen in recent weeks.

“Well we’ll certainly be the underdog of that group, won’t we? Just in terms of the nature of the beast and resources, probably us and Preston [North End] out of those boys,” he said.

“We’re three points off Leeds, and Leeds are in second. Four or five weeks ago I’m not sure many people would’ve believed that when they had a 15 point gap on us or whatever.

“Going to Leeds on Saturday with a chance to narrow the gap again. So all we can do is concentrate on the process.”
