Lee Johnson tells Willie Collum he got Rangers red card wrong as Hibs boss weighs in

Hibernian boss Lee Johnson reckons Willie Collum got several major calls wrong in his side's entertaining 2-2 draw with Rangers and he has called for VAR to be implemented "quickly".

The Easter Road side came from behind to snatch a point in stoppage time thanks to a sublime strike from Josh Campbell. But the match was filled with drama and controversial decisions. Rocky Bushiri was judged to have fouled Antonio Colak in the box at the end of the first half which led to Collum pointing to the spot. While in the second half Rangers had both John Lundstram and substitute Alfredo Morelos sent off in a manic ten minute spell.

And Johnson wasn't convinced Collum got them all right. He told BBC Scotland: "I managed to get them in at half time and just really reinforced the philosophy we have to play on the front foot, we have to be aggressive. We have an obligation to our fans to kick on and drive forward as much as much as possible. And I think that led to the incidents. I'm not saying all the incidents were true or correct. I don't think their one was a penalty. I think we should have had a penalty. I don't think Lundstrum's is a red card, I think it's a yellow. I think the [Morelos] elbow is probably a red. But it was because we stepped up and we became more aggressive."

Hibs were a goal down at the break after James Tavernier had dispatched the penalty from the spot and Johnson had also made the bold call to take Euan Henderson and Paul Hanlon off after just 28 minutes which the former Sunderland boss says it was all down to tactics.

However asked to expand further on the call to give the visitors a penalty, Johnson added: "There's contact. I think if you are giving that then every corner that comes into the box is a penalty because the blocks, the grabs, the tugs, the little shirt pulls, they are there. They are always there.

"For me Bushiri's one in the first half it's all about consistency, if you have VAR I think it's 50/50 whether that Bushiri is giving away a penalty, Lundstram is probably a yellow if you see what I mean. This is why we need it in at this level and we hope so very quickly."
