Lee Johnson makes Hibs pressure vow as boss will 'stick it out' in defiant derby defeat response

Lee Johnson says he will stick it out Hibs and says finishing in the top four of the league is still his aspiration.

The Englishman watched his side lose 3-0 again to rivals Hearts but also meant the Hibees were ruled out of the Scottish Cup next round as Robbie Neilson's men progressed. It was a bright start for the Leith outfit but ultimately goals from Josh Ginnelly, Lawrence Shankland and Toby Sibbick sealed another triumph for the Gorgie much to the dismay of Johnson.

But the under-pressure boss who has won just three games in the eleven games, admits he has no intention hiding from the issues the club face.

He told BBC Sportsound: "It's my job to keep believing in these lads. We've got to finish third, fourth in the league. That starting XI has got enough international caps, has got enough quality as you saw in the game but we've got to do more in terms of killing opposition and scoring the first goal.

"We're not hiding from the fact that there's a lot to do at this football club. There's got to be improvement. I enjoy my job and I'm here fighting every day to try and lift everyone.

"Of course, there's going to be question marks on myself. I know the challenges and the hurdles we've faced. I'm going to continue and stick it out."
