Lee Johnson insists he hasn't lost faith in Hibs stars despite 'unacceptable' loss

Lee Johnson insists he has not lost ‘faith’ in his Hibernian players, despite Saturday’s ‘unacceptable’ defeat to Motherwell.

Johnson was shocked by his players’ performance as they crashed to a costly 3-1 reverse that leaves them clinging on to sixth place by just one point from Livingston.

With only six points separating five teams in the race for a top-six finish, the inconsistent Easter Road side missed a golden opportunity to give their top-half hopes a boost.

Johnson was forced to watch the loss from the stand after landing a touchline ban and admits he now faces a dilemma over his team selection for Dundee United this weekend after the below-par display.

He said: “We had a good training week but we will black-box think on all of it, because I can’t accept that - and I won’t accept that.

“It makes it difficult to select the next team.

“But, at the same time, I haven’t lost faith in the individuals or the team. It was just a really, really bad day.

“It’s been a bit choppy, in terms of not being able to get a level of consistency going and flowing.

“But hopefully that’s the bad one out of the system and we can go and turn up at Dundee United very positively.”
