Lee Johnson gives his Leeds United verdict and reveals bug in the Bristol City camp

That may be the end of any chance of automatic promotion for , and the focus must now switch to making the top six in the league.

, the Robins went down on Saturday afternoon 1-0 after former full-back Luke Ayling drilled in on 16 minutes.

Following the game head coach Lee Johnson had his say on the team's performance, with the Robins stifled by the pressing and suffocating Leeds midfield that enabled the hosts to dominate the ball and territory.

What didn't help City's preparation was a bug in the camp for the match.

"I thought Leeds were the better side throughout the game," admitted Johnson in his post-match press conference.

"In the first 20 minutes we didn't accept that we had to do certain things and have a certain amount of bravery to go and influence the game - and that was the bit that disappointed me. Too many one-twos down the sides.

"I thought a couple of players hid when we had possession. And you can see that a couple on the pitch shouldn't have been there due to bugs and illnesses in the camp that we've had over the last couple of days.

"At half-time I wasn't best pleased. That's not discrediting Leeds because I thought they were very good. But my side didn't play like how I want a Bristol City side to play.

"So at half-time it was quite a strong message: I won't use the exact phrase, but effectively it was to have some guts. To try and get on the ball and to play as we know we can. And I thought we did that in the second half for most of it.

"It's an unbelievably bad decision for the penalty - it's 100 per cent a penalty, for Ayling's handball.

"When the fans watch that then they'll see that. Again, I'm not discrediting Leeds, but that is an action that could potentially swing the momentum in a game as big as this.

"Not just the referee but his assistant and his fourth official that is looking right down the barrell, exactly as we are. When you see it on video, it's ridiculous how that is not a penalty," said Johnson who congratulated the referee on a fine performance after the game in the middle of the pitch (according to the head coach himself).

Famara Diedhiou was not fit to start the match but came on for the final 30 minutes, after reporting ill and not sleeping well over the last few days.

Andi Weimann came off the pitch in the first half too - and because of said illness.

"Andi [Weimann] came off puking, so he ran in," said Johnson to Bristol Live.

"Put it this way, it wasn’t the team that did the team shape yesterday and the starting XI - but I thought we still had a enough XI out there to produce more than we did," he admitted.
