Lee Johnson discusses Ian Wright's visit and how Bristol City are shaping up for Wigan

Bristol City's home form is building nicely and although the Robins have yet to truly convince on their own patch just yet, the results and trends are heading in the right direction.

It's been just the one loss at Ashton Gate (Leeds United), but arguably City played some of their best football in the 0-0 draw against Swansea City rather than against any of the home wins against QPR, Reading .

But on their own pitch it's now five games unbeaten. Crucially, there are signs that this team can be a little more ruthless against the opposition and see off the low-block teams that arrived last season and took a point from the game.

Wigan Athletic are a case in point. And Lee Johnson's team can look to go one better on Sunday than last season when Nathan Byrne's 90th minute equaliser meant that the visitors grabbed a late 2-2 draw.

A third win in BS3 on the spin would surely mark this team's arrival as a side able to compete for a top six position this season. The challenge is set.

Here's what Johnson had to say ahead of the Latics coming over on Sunday as we got some brief time witht he head coach to discuss the upcoming game and some leftovers from Wednesday night...

How’s the Bristol City squad looking injury wise? Is Korey not too far away?

He’s training on Monday so he’s doing his various movements, obviously I’m built to understand where they are, he’s not quite ready and he’s not going to be for three or four weeks, he’s going to need games but squad’s alright, again the boys have been fantastic and we go again Sunday against a really tough side and a side that we know that if we aren’t at our best, it’s going to be tough for us.

How’s that scan for Jack Hunt?

He’ll probably be out until the international break.

You had Ian Wright in the building on Wednesday, did you get the chance to speak to him?

Yes, good chat. Obviously invited him here, I think I said Crystal Palace didn’t I, I don’t know why I said that in the interview, probably because he played for Palace and my great uncle Johnny Griff actually found him for Palace and we had a good chat about that.

We had a good chat about striker’s movement and the thing I love about him is that literally if I said ‘go on, you can have 20 minutes’ tonight, he would’ve got in dangerous areas, he’s retired 15 years but still doesn’t stop thinking about scoring goals.

Will you get him down the training ground?

Well, we will invite him down, of course. I think he loves it still, we talked a lot, I introduced him to Janneh and Semenyo because he’s got a mutual friend who is the agent of those players and I love him, I think he’s an unbelievable character and very inspiring.
