Lee Johnson chips in for Section 82 flags as Bristol City fans group look for contributions

Bristol City boss Lee Johnson has paid out a tidy little sum to help out Section 82 - the Bristol City fans group who populate the South Stand at Ashton Gate.

A crowd-funding page has been set up to raise flags for the Robins ultras whose brilliant motifs have included the slogan 'We Are Fighters' and a decorative tribute to Bobby Reid.

And City head coach Johnson, who signed a new four-year contract with the club in May, has generously chipped in with a handy £150 for the group to create more for the new season.

The former Barnsley and Oldham manager's message reads: "Great work guys - COYR", which you can see for yourself on the group's Just Giving page here.

All donations are welcome as they look to raise £2,000 for the new season to help "raise funds to keep funding displays and flags in Section 82, EastEnd".

Johnson explained in the digital fans forum held by the club back in February that he had spoken with members of Section 82 to discuss ways to create a great atmosphere at Ashton Gate on match days.

And the constant support from the stands has been repaid by the Bristol City head coach as Johnson has now been among the first to chip in along with City Supporter Liason Officer Matt Parsons.

One Section 82 member told Bristol Live: "Wow, fair play - that's a great gesture from Lee."

Meanwhile, another Robins supporter had us laughing as he joked on Twitter "What a guy!', saying that Johnson may have just paid for his own 'Johnson out' banner if results don't go well early next season."

The warm gesture has picked up plenty of support on the day the new season fixtures were released
