Lee Johnson charged by the FA for conduct after Bristol City's loss to Luton Town

Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson has been charged after allegedly using improper/insulting or abusive language towards an official following last weekend's 3-0 loss to Luton Town.

The Robins conceded three times in the second half and Johnson will now have until Monday, 6pm, to decide whether to contest the charge.

Johnson is said to have been 'in breach of FA Rule E3'.

The City boss reflected after the defeat at the weekend, telling Bristol Live:

"I thought we got beat because of Luton’s enthusiasm and too many cheap giveaways from our boys, in forward areas we got good possession, good runners and that lackadaisical attitude to release the ball to the man and I can count in my head 50 times where we turned the ball over in good areas," he said.

"Against a side that are as energetic and as bright as Luton are, naturally they’ll punish you and they punished us and they fully deserved their win today."

The FA tweeted statement read:

'Bristol City manager Lee Johnson has been charged with being in breach of FA Rule E3 following the EFL Championship fixture between Luton Town and Bristol City on Saturday 19 October 2019.

"It is alleged that, following the conclusion of the fixture, his language towards a match official was abusive and/or insulting and/or improper. He has until 18:00 on Monday 28 October 2019 to respond."

Bristol City bounced back on Wednesday evening with a late win against Charlton Athletic to head fourth in the table.
