Spygate was not far from Lee Johnson’s mind when asked for his reaction to Bristol City’s opening day clash with Leeds United.
This morning EFL released the full fixtures for all three of its divisions, with the Robins and Whites drawn to face each other at Ashton Gate on the opening weekend.
Marcelo Bielsa will return to Bristol less than five months after securing a 1-0 win there with a Patrick Bamford goal last term.
Johnson, who made it clear he wanted the Whites to end up in the play-offs with the Robins, admitted the August 4 clash promised to be a huge occasion.
"It’s a biggie! Fantastic. That’s exactly what you want - big, big game. First game is always like a cup final mentality," he said.
"It’s Leeds, fantastic team, fantastic manager. Me and Jamie have just rented out a two-bedroom flat overlooking Leeds’ training ground so we can get a good old view of their training." he added.
"It's going to be great. Ashton Gate will be absolutely packed, live on Sky. A real, first game, cup final feeling the lads will love.
"I'm pretty sure with the obsession in the fanbase, (holiday) plans will be changed."
Johnson has been at Ashton Gate speaking to the media this morning and trundled out the same Spygate joke in several different interviews.
