Lee Hodson went through enough bad days at Ibrox to know the team-mate he left behind will be enjoying the good ones.
James Tavernier is the only survivor from the Rangers side that arrived in the Premiership under Mark Warburton in 2016.
And Hamilton wing back Hodson, who was his understudy for most of that season, knows how much closing in on the title will mean to him.
He said: “We had a few tough times and there wasn’t any silverware. When you are at Rangers you are expected to win games and silverware.
“But this season they have been very good from the first game and they have a fantastic squad and management team.

“There’s no surprise they are at the top of the league. For guys like Tav who have been there from the start, it’s fantastic to see him possibly lifting the title.
“He’s a fantastic player and proved that this season with his amount of goals and assists.
“When he was given the captaincy, it proved he is a great character in the dressing room and a lot of people will be happy to see Tav lift that trophy. A lot of people expect when new managers come in to have instant success. It doesn’t happen overnight.
“Gerrard brought in new players and it was a fairly new squad and sometimes those players need time to gel. It was a new style of play and that takes work and time to get right.
“It’s his third season in charge and things have started to click. They are always improving and have been bringing in new players. There’s no real surprise they are top.
“I still speak to a few lads there from my time. I don’t think they are getting too far ahead of themselves.”
